Gutter Cleaning can be essential at this time of year, read on....

Now the leaves have fallen from the trees, they start to mean a lot of work for homeowners. It’s important to clear your gutters through the autumn and winter months to prevent these from building up. Guttering collects rainwater from the roof and takes it safely away. Failure to do this could result in leaks and damp issues within your home, which can end up proving to be expensive.

We can clear out all of your guttering by hand to ensure everything is removed and carry out some simple gutter maintenance while we are up there. We possess the correct equipment, training, qualifications and insurance to work at height.

We will check all guttering and hoppers for debris to ensure they are clear and we even run water through the guttering to ensure that it runs through swiftly and freely.

We will check the condition of your guttering, regardless of whether they are sealed with sealant or a rubber gasket, these gutter joints will wear away over time. If undetected, this will cause your guttering to leak, which again could result in damp issues and increased costs to repair or fix. We repair a damaged gutter joint by normally unclipping the length of guttering to see clearly the interior and exterior profiles of the joint. We will clear out the joint, remove any dirt or grime, and make sure that it is clean and dry. We then apply a layer of silicone sealant around the edges of the gutter, replace the adjoining lengths of guttering and fix the clips firmly back into place. This way provides a thorough method of fixing leaks.

Another thing that causes leaks or blockages within guttering is the gradient of the guttering. It’s always a good idea to check the gradient of the gutter which is something else we will look into. Guttering needs a slope to allow the water to pour downwards avoid standing water if there isn’t enough of a slope. We can make adjustments to the gradient/slope of your guttering if required.

We can provide all of these checks when clearing out your guttering. This is only possible to do by working up close to the guttering using ladders or our Cherry Picker. You simply wouldn’t be able to do this by standing on the ground using a gutter vacuum or a water fed pole as most companies offer. This equipment simply doesn’t provide good results or allow for any of the checks that we do.
